H1N1 Swine Flu and Pregnancy

The H1N1 (Swine) flu is a dangerous strain of the flu virus that is particularly of concern in pregnant women. There have been maternal deaths from this strain of the flu. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the American College of Obstetricians (ACOG) and your doctors and midwives strongly recommend that pregnant women are vaccinated for the seasonal flu  as well as the H1N1 flu. We feel that this also extends to women who are attempting pregnancy. If you have the opportunity to get the vaccination at work or at your primary care physician, please do so. It may save your life and/or your child's life.

  • Please review this patient fact sheet from ACOG to see how you can protect yourself from the flu.
