Brit Milah

This is My covenant, which ye shall keep, between Me and you and thy seed after thee:every male among you shall be circumcised.

Genesis 17:10

Brit Milah, the covenant of circumcision, is one of the most sacred tenants of the Jewish religion. Since the time of Abraham, Jewish fathers have been commanded to circumcise their sons on the eighth day of life. The bris is typically performed at the home by a mohel. Traditionally, the mohel has been a rabbi who received training in circumcision. The Reform movement has also trained physicians already skilled in circumcision, to become mohelim/mohelot and transform this surgical procedure into a religious ritual.

IF YOU OR YOUR SPOUSE ARE JEWISH, AND PLAN TO RAISE YOUR SON AS A JEW, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU ARRANGE A BRIS FOR HIM ON THE EIGHTH DAY OF LIFE.

Our fertility specialist, Dr. Seth G. Derman is also certified as a mohel by the Brit Milah board of Reform Judaism. He performs brit for patients of our practice. Please call our fertility line at 609-896-4984. Please let us know that you are calling about a bris.
